Life at our school

At Lydiard Park Academy, the value we place on curiosity and passion for learning is evident in the exciting and engaging opportunities open to students. A balance of traditional, vocational and sports related subjects, tailored to individual need, prepares students for 21st Century further education or the work place.

Our vision involves providing as much choice to our students in order that they develop as confident, independent, reflective learners.

Students are encourages to develop a responsibility for their own learning from the very beginning.

During Key Stage 3 we focus on developing the essential skills needed for lifelong learning. Opportunities for literacy, numeracy and personal learning and thinking skills are planned across the curriculum, as well as in individual subjects.

From Year 9 students can choose a range of subjects, from traditional academic subjects to vocational courses relevant to the world of work. The advice and pathways we offer ensure courses are suited to the pupils’ needs and aspirations. During these vital years, through assessment for learning, pupils and parents are kept well informed of progress and achievement and therefore know the next steps to take.

"Teaching is good and well planned to deliver good opportunities for students to work hard and make progress. There is a positive climate for learning."
